Lund University is ranked as one of the top 100 in the world. We tackle complex problems and global challenges and work to ensure that knowledge and innovations benefit society. We provide education and research in engineering, science, law, social sciences, economics and management, medicine, humanities, theology, fine art, music and drama. The 42,000 students and 7,400 employees are based at our campuses in Lund, Malmö and Helsingborg. The Faculty of Medicine is one of eight faculties at Lund University. In close cooperation with agents within public healthcare and medicine, it contributes to increasing knowledge of high relevance to human health. This is done through education and research of the highest quality in cooperation with wider society. The Faculty encompasses 2,800 full-time students enrolled in 8 degree programmes, as well as 1200 graduate students and 1800 employees.

The Department of Health Sciences is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. The department encompasses education and research within health science in close collaboration with general health care, regional authorities and the surrounding society. Approx. 80 doctoral students and 210 staff are employed. The teaching staff is intensively involved in teaching and learning duties in different health sciences programmes at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels.

The research group Participation, ageing and everyday life is one of 12 research groups at the department, headed by Malmgren Fänge. The group has seven employees. The focus of the research is older people and people with mainly physical and cognitive disabilities and their home situation. This includes intervention evaluations and longitudinal studies as well as psychometric development of methodology. The research is conducted in close collaboration with society.

At the Faculty of Medicine, the Medical Faculty Centre for Education and Learning, MedCUL, provides courses, workshops and individual pedagogical research supervision for teaching staff. Teaching education is mandatory for a permanent teaching position.
